Comfort Suites Paradise Island with FULL access to the Atlantis

I just got back from the Comfort Suites with full access to the Atlantis and even though I was only there for 8 hours, I could write about it for days! This 97- acre tropical paradise really does have something for everyone. Featuring 4 beaches, 13 pools, 18 water slides and 2 river rides – it is one of the largest water parks in the world!

But I am getting ahead of myself; let me start at the beginning. Knowing our time in port was limited, we got up early and got off the ship quickly. From the cruise pier we easily got a taxi over to the Comfort Suites Paradise Island. The drive took about 10 minutes and the cost was $11, paid in US dollars. I presented my Resort for a Day confirmation at the front desk. They were expecting us and check-in was very quick and easy. The front desk staff was very friendly – they gave us each an ID card and directions on where to present it at the Atlantis in order to receive our wristbands. I was surprised at how close the Comfort Suites is to the Atlantis – it is just across the street. The first photo below is a picture of the Atlantis entrance that I took from the side door of the Comfort Suites.
We walked though the casino and downstairs to the AquaVenture desk (pictured ). We filled out the required release forms and were given our wristbands for FULL access. Our timing was perfect – as we were heading out a large group from the cruise line filed in; we were glad to not be held up in their line! Walking from the AquaVenture desk to the water park brings you through the Dig (Aquarium), which is really worth seeing. However, if you are going to be in port late, I would recommend walking though quickly and coming back later as the Dig does not close.

We got our towels from the towel hut and headed to the beach first. The beach is expansive and not very crowded at all. The water parks opened at 10am so we headed over there shortly after they opened. Our first stop was the Current River Ride – I had heard that it is a must do and I have to agree. This mile long river ride is one of the most popular tubing rides. It takes 20 minutes from start to finish and includes beautiful scenery, rapids, falls and a wave pool that pushes you through the current. There is even a conveyor that will bring you from the river ride to the water slides at the Power Tower. If you prefer a quieter ride, head to the Lazy River instead.

In addition to these 2 river rides, the Atlantis has 18 waters slides to choose from! Our favorites were The Abyss, the Leap of Faith and the Serpent Slide, because they combined the aquarium with the slide. Where else can you tube through a tunnel surrounded by sharks? The minimum height for most of the slides is 48”. Traveling with younger ones? There is plenty for them to do too; check out Splashers – a water sprinkler park or head to Ripples or Poseidon for toddler pools.

Dining options are plenty - ranging from premium restaurants at a premium cost to casual poolside snack bars. We didn’t want to waste any daylight time on dining; so we opted for the first poolside snack bar we came upon at lunchtime. The sandwiches were good and the price was not bad; about $8.00 each plus drinks and gratuity. On-property purchases must be made with a credit card, cash is not accepted. If you do prefer a more leisurely sit-down lunch, the Lagoon Bar & Grill is centrally located and offers a beautiful view of the lagoon. Lunch for a family of four will probably average about $60-$80.

Feeling re-energized, we opted to hit a couple more water slides before parking ourselves poolside for some
R & R. The Atlantis property is massive and you will undoubtedly run out of either time or energy. We must have planned it well because we ran out of both at the same time!

Our ship was departing at 6:00, so at about 3:00 we decided to take a leisurely walk through some of the Marine Habitats; including stingrays, sharks, turtles and countless fish. We exited towards the Marina Village and enjoyed the shops, live music, and activities that line the streets. It reminded me of Downtown Disney and seems like it would be a fun place at night too. Outside the Marina we crossed the street back to the Comfort Suites. Our room was pleasantly spacious and very clean. You can tell that the entire property was recently renovated – everything looks brand new! We were tempted to nap but opted to shower and change instead. We took advantage of the FREE Wi-Fi service in the room to catch up on email and face-time our family back home. The Comfort Suites has a nice pool area with a swim up bar that we didn’t take advantage of but defiantly would have if we were in port longer.

There is no arguing that full access to the Atlantis for the day is on the high end when it comes to price. Prior to our day in port I wondered if the cost would be justified. In hind sight, I would have to say that yes – it absolutely is worth it! Resort for a Day offers the best deal in port for FULL access to the Atlantis for cruisers and I would definitely do it again!

I would like to start our first blog posting with our newest destination – St. Thomas

St. Thomas is one of the most frequently visited cruise ports in the Caribbean, one any given day there can be 6 or more ships in port, bringing in up to a whopping 20,000 cruisers! If you have been to St. Thomas before (and most cruisers have), then you know that your St. Thomas excursion options basically include either shopping or snorkeling.

Been there, done that? Looking for something new? Announcing Resort for a Day passes now available to the popular Marriott Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Beach Resort!

The highlight of this well-known resort is the location. The resort is a convenient 10 minute ride from the cruise pier, but the drones of cruisers quickly dissolve as you drive along the coast to the secluded beachfront. And what a beachfront!
The beach stretches on and on, with lounge chairs and umbrellas available the entire way.
The beachfront is long and somewhat narrow. With only two rows of lounge chairs;
every guest gets an oceanfront spot. Lounge chairs, towels and umbrellas are all included with
your Resort for a Day pass.

The cliff-top location lends itself well to the most breathtaking infinity pool I have seen yet. Perched atop the edge of the resort; the infinity pool overlooks the harbor and the view seems endless. Prefer something closer to the sand? There is also a great oceanfront pool down on Morning Star Beach - swim in the fresh water pool while listening to the waves crash on the shore. There are ample lounge chairs and umbrellas available by the pools and there is also a great children’s sprinkler park for the kids. Speaking of children, kids ages 12 and under are FREE!
St. Thomas Resort fora Day pass Includes:
• Morning Star Beach (on-site)
• Frenchman's Reef outdoor infinity pool
• Splash Zone for children
• Infinity outdoor pool with swim up bar
• Morning Star Pool - beachfront
• Whirlpool
• Use of poolside chairs and lounges
• Use of beach, beach chairs and lounges

• Complimentary Wi-Fi internet
• ALL New Frenchman's Reef Fitness Center
• Table tennis
• Volleyball
• Tennis
• Sauna
• Wheelchair accessible
